The Pryde

LGBTQ Senior Housing’s vision for welcoming and affordable senior housing is becoming a reality, as the renovation of the former Rogers School began in the spring of 2022 to create The Pryde. The Pryde will feature 74 units - a mix of studio, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom independent living apartments where LGBTQ seniors over age 62 can age as their whole selves, with dignity and compassion.  The name “The Pryde” emerged in community conversations and reflects the connection between our community and the location of this historic building in the heart of the Hyde Park neighborhood. 

The Pryde building includes a 10,000-square-foot Community Center, which will serve as a vibrant public gathering space. The Community Center will include a learning classroom, library, and art exhibition space, and host Portraits of Pride. This photography project presents large-scale and intimate portraits of LGBTQ leaders through curated exhibitions and special installations. There will be a multipurpose space for neighborhood meetings and events, becoming an integral part of the Hyde Park community. The public wing of The Pryde will host office space for the 54th Regiment, a 100% volunteer organization committed to preserving the history of the brave African American soldiers who served in the United States military during the Civil War and trained at Camp Meigs in the Readville section of Hyde Park, as well include the offices of LGBTQ Senior Housing.
